Written by: Justin Date: Sept 9th, 2003 Hey just got back from riding the weekend away out in Oakhurst California. First things first, Oakhurst is mostly tight single track interconnected by winding gravel fire roads. The terrain is a mix of hard pack on the main trails to tacky dirt on the not so easily accessible ones. This is not really an area for quads as the trails even main ones can become real tight just around a turn. The first note worthy trail of many was a hard pack rutted fairly steep climb which started out easily enough. The climb was easily pulled by my dale and the MT480,s hooked up real nice easily bringing up the front end over a few rocks. I came around a blind corner and in front of me was a very daunting upgrade rutted and winding {this some what worried me since i have the stock map and every thing i have herd was the X stutters down low and i am not the best when it comes to clutching and judging rpm for climbing hills mostly just a flat land rider} any way everything i had been told about the coughing and stuttering was thrown in the trash as I rolled on the throttle and was much relieved by a strong pull down low and a nice rear wheel only climb up the hill WHEH. This was one success of many the trails we rode over the weekend ranged from super tight technical stuff which the 260 pound bike did not show its weight to deep ruts feet even with the bars stuff and long open fire roads love to slide and ride wheelies with the thing it just feels lighter than it really is. I also love the way I do not have to kick to get the thing started, as any body with a 540 KTM 2 stroke with the left hand starter knows. I'll be sure to let you guys know all about my ridding as I get to do a little more but for now all the more I have to say is I love the bike and the people I have meet on the trail. It also feels good having people say so that's what a cannondale looks like and the shock on there face as I stab the green button and it comes to life. Justin Keep the plastic up and the wheels down.
