WRITTEN: JUNE 1ST, 2002 WRITTEN BY: KEVIN BAXTER aka "KNOBBY" Here is a fuel tank burp mod that I made and works great. No more burping and leaning. Actually, I've never had to burp the tank because I stopped at the hardware store on the way to riding and did this before I ever rode the bike. I can fill the bike at the pump in the truck and have it only go down 1-2 cups when I take it off and ride around. WHAT TO DO... 1. Get a 37" length of 1/2" polyethylene tubing. (like the stuff for your refrigerator ice maker) 3/8" isn't quite stiff enough when things get hot. I tried that first, it worked, but not as well. 2. Cut about 1/3 of the end off each of two places on a 30-45 deg angle on both ends of the tube. (4 cuts) See Picture.
![]() Put the tube into the tank, working it carefully to the back of the tank, as shown by my assistant.
![]() The end of the tube should then be pushed into the filler neck and down into the tank to stay put. You could even pull it out later and use it as a siphon hose if required.
![]() Total Cost ~$1.00 Knobby |
