![]() Written March 30th, 2002 I raced Saturday at Southwick. Man that track is serious. Lots of sand, sand, sand. Did I mention sand? Lots of whooped out corners and plenty of jumps. Got to see Doug Henry and John Dowd rip it up. These guys are lightning fast. For my first time racing outdoors, we had to do 2 qualifiers before we even got to the heat races. We had almost 80!! show up for the over 30 "c" class. Top 21 from each qual. Made it to the heats. Took off in fine shape about 12th place or so and fell in one of the sandy berms. Then I fell in the next corner! Picked up the bike and put my helmet down till I saw the checkers. I finished 7th or 8th and I qualified!! Sadly I was not able to answer the call for the heats. I decided not to push my ankle which was throbbing now and I called it a day. Good news is this race was an open. No points lost or gained. Season starts april 27 or 28th. These bikes can hang with any brands and even beats a few. Myself on a X440s and BUGMAN on a C440 were the only two riders on 'Dales. Thanks Kevin
