It was a pretty cold day. It was cloudy and the high probably never got above 40 degrees! I had on long-johns and 4 layers on my torso to try and stay warm. I signed up for the 250D class that ended up having 8 riders in it.
Moto 1:
I was anxious to try out the revalved suspension that I had done over the winter. I lined up far outside and ended up getting the holeshot! A lot of guys wheelied off the start b/c
of too much traction. Had a huge lead for laps 1 and 2 then started getting tired and slowed down. The bike was handling great and I was glad that I got the suspension redone. Got passed by a rider on lap 3 on a CR250 after he bumped me in a corner from the outside. I was able to jump the big double on every lap and also able to jump into the uphill whoops on each lap. I was not able to consistently do these last year. Got the step-up jump down after the 1st lap. Got passed on the last lap by a KDX 220 with a dual sport kit. Thank goodness he didn’t use his turn signal when he passed me! The bike ran great but cut out a little bit on me every once in a while. I finished the moto in 3rd.
Moto 2:
I ended up changing my spark plug (a NGK Iridium 8 plug) because the one I had in it was pretty black. This plug was in the bike when my impeller disentigrated and I’m sure was the victim of very rich conditions. Lined up about 5-6 places from the doghouse, on the outside. Got the holeshot again. Held the lead for 2 laps and got passed by the same CR250 rider from the 1st Moto. Later in lap 3 got passed by the KDX again and then the
CR250 rider stalled his bike. Both the KDX and I passed him back. I tried to run down the KDX but I was just too pooped and couldn’t muster the energy to do it. The bike did not cut out at all like it did in the first moto. I finished the moto in 2nd and got 2nd place overall.
I also met a guy, Billy, who was racing a Dale Moto 440. He easily won both his motos by a huge lead and got the holeshot in his second moto.
