![]() This was a great day, weather-wise. It was partly sunny and the high was in the upper 70’s. I signed up for the 250C and the +35 classes, again. Both of my classes had 6 riders in them. And I ended up finishing 5th in both. My starts were much better this weekend. In my 1st 250C class moto I had the holeshot but gave it up because I let off the gas to soon. That’s called partially committed. I’ve got to work on the fully committed thing! As I’ve been doing all year, I pushed myself a little harder and felt a little faster. I was definitely jumping a little farther than last weekend. The suspension is awesome! Since I had it revalved back in February it has been sweet! It is working so good for me now that I don’t even care about braking bumps anymore. When I watch the video we take, I’ve noticed that my bike is very stable and doesn’t move around much in the rough stuff in the entrance of turns. I think both the bike’s weight and the revalved suspension have a lot to do with that. The hesitation in the motor that I’ve talked about before seemed to be less this weekend. I also tried to be on the gas when landing from the jump that I’ve been having this problem on. I think this has helped. I did have an interesting experience in my 2nd moto of the day (250C). At the conclusion of the 1st lap I lost my end cap on my muffler! I thought that the bike starting sounding a little different but was not aware of what had happened until I pulled into the pits after the moto! It looked like I had a pony-tail coming out of my pipe! We searched the track for the end cap but didn’t find it. The funny thing was that during intermission I was watching the video of that race and saw where the end cap come off and the packing come out. We went to that area of the track and found the end cap immediately, undamaged. I had rigged some heavy wire through the 3 holes in my muffler to keep the packing in for the rest of the day, but since we found the end cap (thanks to the video tape) I borrowed a pop riveter and put the end cap back on. I still need to remove it again and replace the packing that I lost. I had a couple of guys comment to me how my Dale pulls away from them so quickly in the straight-aways. Even the track announcer was making positive comments about my Dale, like “…you don’t see many Cannondales around anymore but Troy’s been taking his to the checker flag every time he’s out here.” He kept calling it the big Cannondale 4-stroke. That got me thinking and I have finished every moto that I’ve started with my Cannondale (about 26 motos in the past year and a half). Although there were 2 where I crashed and that was it for me. I had another great weekend of friends and racing! Now I have a 3 week break before my next race. Now maybe I’ll get some stuff done around the house! Troy
