![]() 4th ride review of my X440S, a few problems but nothing I’m complaining about. I finally got a trailer, so now I can haul my bike on my own, YEAH! For this day of riding I took my 6-year old son, Jacob, and his Husky CR50J. Because I wanted to stay with him we only rode on the flat circle track and he watched me ride the MX track at our local club. We started on the circle track. WOW can this thing carve a corner! I was taking the closest inside line that was available on a off-camber flat turn and the bike stuck like glue. In fact, I noticed after about 3-4 laps I was creating my own inside berm. The exit of this turn was rutted and rough but the Ohlins kept the wheels on the ground which allowed me to keep the gas on hard! I tried to reach the rev limit while going around the track but was unable to get to it. The track is pretty small with straight-aways that are about 50-60 ft. long. The cool thing was that as I was trying to reach the rev limit the bike just kept pulling and pulling. I was trying this in 2nd gear. Another thing I worked on was starts. I tried both 1st and 2nd gear starts. Now I have no experience in this area, yet. I’m hoping to enter my first race on May 4th at Lincoln Trail Motorsports Park in Casey, Illinois. Anyway, I liked the 2nd gear starts better. It was a little slow of the line but once the revs got up a little bit the thing took off like a rocket! Traction was pretty good and I did not break the rear wheel loose, that I could tell. When starting in 1st gear the front end wanted to come up and I was shifting to 2nd very quickly. I’m still amazed at the throttle response of this bike. Twist and GO…I mean go FAST! After tooling about the circle track for about 45 minutes we went back to the truck to get a drink and take a break. Jacob’s bike wasn’t running very well and I would like him to get some more riding time in so I didn’t let him ride on the MX track. He did allow me to ride on it though, while he sat and watched. Remember, I’m very familiar with the small MX track and pushing myself on it is pretty easy because I’m very comfortable with myself, the bike and the track. This day I was jumping farther than I have before and was running faster too. The bike once again just felt really good. I did have the throttle cable stick on me once. Luckily nothing bad happened. The cable end at the handle bar got hung up. After I fixed that I took off and hit our 30 ft. table top jump and about 10 ft before the ramp the bike stalled. It fired back up when I pushed the green button and died again. Started it again and didn’t have any more problems with it the rest of the day. I will be taking the bike in this week to get the impeller service done as well as the intermittent stalling (new ECU download) service done too. Hopefully that will take care of the problem I experienced. I still haven’t even checked the clickers and I haven’t set the sag. Right now I’ve got 6 hours of riding on the bike. I’m hoping to get at least 10 before doing anything to the suspension. I will definitely set the sag and check the clickers before my 1st race in May. So, I’m still a very satisfied customer and I am loving every minute that I get to ride this bike! After cleaning the bike tonight, it feels so good to stand back and look at the really cool looking motocrosser that has been everything I hoped it would be, so far! Take care! Troy
