Written by: PJ Crouch Date: November 22nd, 2002 First Impressions: Decisions decisions, I pulled into my drive way with three Cannondales. My 02 E440 that I just had the X440-S map loaded into it. A brand new 02 Moto, my cousins, and a brand new 03 Cannibal, my wifes. It was 9:00 pm so the head lights were needed. I sat on my wifes very cool looking black Cannibal and fired it up, I waited for it to settle into a comfortable idle. The engine is loud but the exhaust note is fairly subdued. As I pull away I realize that this bike is going to be a great deal of fun. The power delivery is snappy yet not uncontrollable it pulls cleanly from low revs to as high as I dared go on the not broken in motor. The motor reminds me more of my stock Banshee than it does of the Z400 I have ridden. It does not hit like the Banshee but it pulls in a zippy fun way. The bike will slide the rear at will, while a piped and jetted Z requires more effort to ride the same way. The suspension handled the few bumps and ruts I ran it through quite confidently, but because it was night I did not jump because when the head lights lose focus on the ground I get nervous. The moto was too loud to ride much that late and it also needs more room to stretch it's legs. I will write more when I get a chance to ride it more. I will say fuel injection is an amazing thing. It is hard to believe the two bikes have the same powerplant. Mufflerman
